Thing number 30...the end

I got a thought for you....IM DONE hahahahaha

learning 2.0 a review...29

Overall it was a very good learning experience for me. I wont say that it was easy, that's not true. However i will say for anybody not used to the Internet, as it is now or how it will change, it is a great way to get your feet wet and get some basic experience. Which in the longer run I believe will be invaluable.

Rollyo...28

Rollyo...interesting tool never thought of making a customizable search page before but then the Internet is the first place that such a thing would be possible now isn't it. Libraries nationwide should jump on this as soon as they can. By creating a Rollyo roll they could possibly hit sites that wouldn't normally show up on more standard search pages, and that i think would be a good way to spread information.

Library Thing...27

It is interesting to see what people are reading or more accurately what is popular. (as you will see what I think is good reading isn't actually popular with many) Library thing is definitely a useful tool when judging the popularity of a given book, this is important its is just to judge the popularity not whether the book is appropriate for your library or not.

Text Generators...26

This was actually amusing I found a really neat text generator here and thats my name ---->
Thats the chinese form of my name they also have Tibetian.

Podcasts and Videos....25

The Arizona State University Library has allot of Student information help. They use vodcasts for tours, also for news and information. The students are made aware that they have access to group study rooms, research classes, and wireless computers and other invaluable services.

We offer many of the same services at our library. Should it be put on podcast would only enhance our popularity I think.

Podcasts....24

Our discovery exercise for this blog was to look at two podcast directories etc.. The only directory that would allow me access was Yahoo. Therefore I can only say that Yahoo is very user friendly and easy to navigate.

Flickr mashups...3rd party sites ....22

I got several possibilities from F D Toys; I can find use for the Calendar, Wallpaper, Jig Saw and more. It will be fun experimenting with my digital photos.
The travel planner by Yahoo would be a boon in the way it allows the user to build their own itineraries.

You Tube - ...23

This video is about one of the most popular sport in the islands. Cricket is played on all of the islands in the Caribbean and on lots of other countries in the world. Click on the square to activate the control.

One of the greatest bowlers ever, Sir Lara best cricket player that ever lived in the Caribbean period. I did have a little difficulty finding him on youtube the search results seemed slightly random...like there was too much info and too little defining it. It does bring to mind the concerns that some people have for sites like you tube and myspace, without proper tags, or with tags falsely assigned you might have a chance to stumble across objectionable material, i would that the chance would increase the more data you have to deal with.. but until then enjoy the video.

.Flickr and tagging....21

Tagging is important as it allows Flickr users to find images about certain topics or subject matter. Users can organise their photos into sets. These sets are very flexible as they may be grouped and regrouped into several different collections.

Exploring Flickr -.....20

Flickr it seems nice enough ( is it just me or are all these sites like flickr and blogger a part of something else? ) didn't notice them mention any sort of way to control who can and cant look at pictures...but I was wandering around and I spotted this photo, I guess taken by someone who was on vacation...it reminds me of home, the cool evening breezes the way the sand feels between your toes, and the way the water is clear to the bottom even when you are out on a boat. I really do want to go home every now and then...

2.0 Awards List...19

Since google is my favorite search engine, the third place winner (igoogle) is my choice. It provided me with so much information about the things I like. It's many features allows me to add to, rearrange, and do many new and interesting things with my page.

Tecnorati.....18

Tecnorati is about blogs that are already posted. As they are registered and tagged it makes them easier to find. Since it has so many blogs you would surely need lots of time to find your favorite.

Tagging...17

Del.icio.us allows a person to store bookmarks on line. It keeps all your favorites, and can be accessed anywhere. It allows you to share info, and discover new sites. It is an excellent tool for research assistance.

VBPL Wiki...14

It was easy to add my favorite book and author to the VBPL wiki. Other library groups should use wikis to exchange ideas, and collaborate on projects.

Social Networking....15

Online social networking is ideal for people who want to maintain connections with friends and family. It is also an ideal venue to make connections with like minded people. MySpace.com and facebook.com, are some of the more popular websites. It would be great if VBPL would create an place for OSN who love the library. This way they could talk about their school work and books etc.

Finding Feeds....10

Finding feeds is an interesting exercise. Topix had a lot of information about Virginia beach. I also tried a few others and even found a few that I can use.
