Web and Library 2.0 the dumbing down of future generations
I just finished reading the articles on web 2.0 and library 2.0 and I have to say I am disappointed. For ages the library has been a bastion of knowledge and a holder of various histories from around the world and people want to dumb the library down so that no one leaves it? If you dumb it down it becomes worthless and while I agree that the library does need to adapt it does not need to turn itself into a scholastic version of McDonalds. It is a place where the desire to appreciate and acquire knowledge should reign supreme not to find out what Sweeny McBob did last night on "Life in the trailer park". However that is not to say that i do not like the potential of web 2.0 the ability to spark creativity and inventiveness through the use of easily accessable tools does speak to me but things on paper and the actual end result are two different things, so I have no more to say on that subject until I see how it pans out.
